To ensure your samples are delivered to us promptly, please forward a copy of the waybill as soon as it is available along with a copy of the commercial invoice if applicable so that we can alert our agent.

Fumigation: It is strongly recommended that the consignment is fumigated prior to dispatch and the original documentation is forwarded to Stone Initiatives as soon as it is available.

ADVICE TO ENSURE SPEEDY PROCESSING THROUGH CUSTOMS AND QUARANTINE

To enable prompt clearance of samples through customs and quarantine, please include the following information with the samples:

Origin of Samples: (Country of origin)

Sample Description: E.g. Processed marble slabs, sawn on all faces, recovered from a depth of more than 5 metres.  No soil or other contaminants present.

Declaration: These samples have been exported to Australia for laboratory test work and hold no commercial value.

 

DELIVERY OF STONE SAMPLES TO AUSTRALIA

Requirements for testing mineralogy of samples

If you are sending samples for testing (such as X-ray diffraction or petrographic analysis) to Australia, you must adhere to the following Australian Border Force guidelines to ensure they are accepted at the border:

  • Sample Source: Samples must be taken from the actual goods you plan to import.
  • Dimensions: Sample sizes must be kept within 250 mm x 250 mm x 40 mm thick. (Small samples within these dimensions do not require a permit).
  • Labelling: You must label the samples “engineered stone samples for testing”.
  • Documentation: You must include details of the real importer and supplier (do not list freight forwarders or logistic providers).

Chain of Custody Evidence You must be able to show that the goods tested match the goods imported. Supporting evidence may include:

  • Batch numbers
  • Written sampling procedures
  • Photographs
  • Accurate records explaining what was sampled and why
